Ms. Velma Šarić has extensive academic and professional experience in the fields of sociology, genocide studies, international law, and war crimes. She obtained her BA in Political Science from the University of Sarajevo’s Faculty of Political Science and is currently pursuing her MA in Sociology. Velma has worked as a trained journalist for the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) and was responsible for covering war crimes cases for the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) in Sarajevo. She has planned and implemented several successful Sarajevo-based international summer school programs, conferences, and workshops focusing on the themes of genocide, justice and reconciliation. She has also worked as a researcher and fixer on numerous publications and films about the 1992-1995 Bosnian war and received credit as the Bosnian field producer for “I Came to Testify” and “War Redefined” from PBS’ Women, War, and Peace TV series. Velma additionally produced PCRC’s first feature-length documentary Uspomene 677, which was runner-up for ‘Best Microbudget Film’ at the Raindance Film Festival in London in 2011.

Ms. Leslie Woodward holds a BS in Biology from Baylor University and an MA in International Studies from the University of Denver’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies. While completing her MA, she obtained concentrations in strategic peacebuilding, post-conflict development, and research in developing contexts. Leslie has obtained advanced certification in designing peace building programs from the Peace Action Training and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR) and has worked in Kenya, Bangladesh, and Bosnia and Herzegovina on various peacebuilding and development projects. Leslie’s past experience also includes work for the Center for Sustainable Development and International Peace (SDIP) on the development of peacebuilding and statebuilding strategies for Somalia and a position with Leadership Institute of New Sudan (LIONS) as a research manager.
