Memory and Identity in Europe: Presence and Future

Our President, Velma Šarić, spoke at the 9th European Remembrance Symposium entitled ”Memory and Identity in Europe: Presence and Future”, which took place from October 26th to 28th in Tallin, Estonia.

The aim was to discuss the role of history and memory in creating contemporary European identity, while, in the light of latest developments in the field of history, practitioners were invited to share their best practices. Velma highlighted our peacebuilding program Ordinary Heroes as an example of positive practice towards building memories in BiH. She emphasized that no laws or regulations guide such efforts in BiH and that sometimes memorials and remembrance efforts can also lead to further division.
