To mark the 20th anniversary of the massacre of Muslims in Gujarat, a summit “India on the Brink: Preventing Genocide” was organized and hosted by Genocide Watch, Indian-American NGOs, and other organizations in Alliance Against Genocide, focusing on genocide and discrimination against minority groups in India.
Our President Velma Saric and Elisa von Joeden-Forgey (Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention) emphasized the importance of understanding the gendered dimension of genocide prevention, which is central to achieving effective, long-term, humanist mechanisms for peace-building.
