In 2017, the European Commission launched a conference titled, “The EU – Western Balkans Media Days”. This conference was supported by the European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations commissioner, Johannes Hahn, and aims to ensure that media freedom remains a priority in the region while addressing the complex political, economic, and social issues.
In this year’s edition, out in September, the conference will summarize what has been achieved since the first issue and discuss the launch of some new initiatives funded by the European Union. Some of the things that will be discussed during the event are the business model, regional cooperation, as well as the challenges caused by the increasing manipulation of the informational space.
Velma Saric, the director of the Post-Conflict Research Center, is going to be one of the speakers at the conference this year at the panel session called, ”Reconciliation and Regional Cooperation: Transcending Nationalist Narratives”.
