On February 12th, 2018, PCRC organized a meeting between Adama Dieng, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide, and key representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s civil society organizations (CSOs) at the United Nations office in Sarajevo. This discussion (which was one part of Mr. Dieng’s wider visit to the Western Balkans) was the result of the partnership between PCRC and the UN Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect in building the Western Balkan Coalition for Genocide Prevention.
The event was organized as part of the Regional Genocide Prevention Seminar series, which has been running since 2011. Participating CSOs and their representatives included Association of BiH Journalists (Borka Rudić), Association Transitional Justice Accountability and Remembrance (Dženana Karup-Druško), Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (Mirna Buljugić), Civil Rights Defenders BiH (Ena Bavčić), CURE Foundation (Selma Hadžihalilović), Forum ZFD (Michele Parente), Post-Conflict Research Center (Velma Šarić, Tatjana Milovanović, Myles Wallingford, Bella Peacock), and Youth Center “Kvart” (Nikola Kuridža). The meeting was additionally attended by the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sezin Sinanoglu.
