Memory and Peacebuilding Exchange Visit

Our center hosted a group of students from Türkiye as part of the Hafıza Merkezi program, which is dedicated to promoting truth, justice, and collective memory.

During their visit, the students took part in a series of educational and commemorative activities designed to provide a deeper understanding of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s recent past. This included a guided tour of Sarajevo, where they were introduced to key historical sites and events that shaped the city during the war. They also attended a screening of our documentary film “Kapija ’95”, which explores the events and their lasting impact on survivors and the wider community. As part of the program, the group visited both the Srebrenica Memorial Center and the War Childhood Museum.

In a discussion session with our president and founder Velma Šarić, as well as Ajna Mešić from the Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, their conversation focused on the culture of memory among young people and the importance of confronting the past in a responsible and meaningful way.
