The International Summer School Women, Peace and Security 2025 was held from September 22 to 26, 2025, at the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security Studies. The summer school brought together 48 participants from 11 countries, including students, young experts and professionals in the fields of security, international relations, law and gender studies.
Our president and founder, Velma Šarić, gave a lecture in which she presented the activities of our center in the field of peace building and peace education. After the screening of the film “Partisan Necropolis” by the Scottish photographer and director Chris Leslie, which tells the story of the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar, the participants, working in groups, had the task of designing monuments that they would like to see in their communities. In this way, through a creative approach, the key elements of post-conflict memorialization are included, among which are the importance of collective memory based on judicially confirmed facts and the role of the peace building process in education and the reconstruction of society.
