The documentary The Partisan Necropolis was screened in London on 1 April 2026 at a special event hosted at King’s College London. The screening, organized by the War Crimes Research Group and the Art and Conflict Hub, attracted many students, academics, and human rights advocates.
The Partisan Necropolis is a feature‑length documentary directed and produced by Scottish filmmaker Chris Leslie in collaboration with the Sarajevo‑based Post‑Conflict Research Center (PCRC). The film tells the story of Mostar’s decaying Partisan Memorial Cemetery, a once renowned National Monument and cemetery honouring young WWII partisan fighters, which now bears the scars of vandalism, including swastikas, far‑right graffiti, and the 2022 destruction of nearly 700 commemorative stone flowers
After the screening, a panel discussion was held with the film’s director Chris Leslie, Neven Andjelic, and Velma Šarić, Founder and President of the Post‑Conflict Research Center. At the panel, Velma spoke about the broader context of memory, cultural heritage, and transitional justice in the Western Balkans, with the focus on the role of art in trasnsiotanal justices processes.
