Harvard International Human Rights Clinic
Date of Implementation: March 2013
PCRC was commissioned by the Harvard International Human Rights Clinic to assist in research being conducted on the topic of armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a particular focus on the various roles assumed during conflict. PCRC organized site visits to important war memorials and locations in the cities of Sarajevo, Srebrenica, Mostar, Banja Luka, Bratunac, Prijedor and Kozarac. PCRC additionally set up interviews with key representatives and officials and coordinated meetings and presentations at leading institutions such as the International Commission for Missing Persons (ICMP), the Institute for Research of Crimes Against Humanity, and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), and the Association of Concentration Camp Detainees of Republika Srpska.
PCRC provided invaluable assistance to my team from Harvard Law School’s International Human Rights Clinic. Their expertise in armed conflict issues gave them the insight necessary to understand our project and research needs. They provided us with their network of contacts to set up interviews with key experts and witnesses. the translator PCRC provided was amazing—she brought a nuanced understanding of English and her empathy put our interviewees at ease. Finally our drivers were always professional and friendly and made our several road trips go smoothly.
